Alliance Work Partners (AWP), since 1977, offers employees and their household solution-focused counseling, legal and financial referrals, work-life services, online resources and many other options to help balance work with life and improve overall well-being.
As a non-profit, independent Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider, AWP is a vocal advocate for employees to receive the best care available. To ensure this occurs, AWP provides direct feedback opportunities and client satisfaction surveys.

What is an EAP?
The EAP (Employee Assistance Program) offers a variety of services to help identify and address problems that impact the workplace. One of these services is counseling that is provided to the employee and his/her family at no cost to the employee.
Is EAP counseling really confidential?
Yes, it is confidential. Your EAP therapist is bound by ethical and legal guidelines of confidentiality. The only limits of confidentiality are those imposed by law. If you have any specific questions about confidentiality, talk with your counselor or contact Customer Service.
What kinds of problems do you deal with?
Our counselors are experienced professionals who can help with personal, family and workplace problems. Some examples are work-related stress, substance abuse, relationship or marital conflict, parent/child conflict, depression, anxiety, unresolved grief, domestic violence. In addition, counselors can help with referrals to doctors and to legal and financial resources.
Will you report my counseling sessions to my employer?
No. We only report statistical information. No personal information is shared.
What are the therapist's qualifications?
All of our therapists are state licensed or certified masters or doctoral level clinicians with years of counseling experience. In addition, many are Certified Employee Assistance Professionals, which means they have special knowledge of workplace issues including substance abuse.
What if I'm referred to a counselor that I don't like?
If you meet with the therapist and for whatever reason do not want to return to that same therapist, please call us right away. We will schedule you with another therapist and will not count that EAP visit.
Who is eligible for EAP services?
We generally define this as the employee and immediate family or household members, meaning those with whom you live that constitute a family. If you have a specific question about who may qualify, call our scheduling desk during business hours.
What if I still need counseling after I use my EAP sessions?
Most people are able to resolve their problems within their EAP sessions but if you need additional counseling your EAP counselor will help you to make that transition to either counseling available through your insurance plan or to community resources. Many of our counselors are providers for insurance plans so you may be able to continue with the same counselor, depending on your plan.
Can I see any therapist under my EAP benefit?
EAP Preferred’s employees and network providers provide your EAP counseling. Contact our scheduling desk with questions about providers.
Does the EAP provide psychiatric services?
The EAP benefit covers outpatient counseling. The counselors are qualified to assess, diagnose and refer to a psychiatrist if needed. If you need a referral to a psychiatrist it will likely be covered under your employer’s mental health benefit. Your EAP counselor can help you to find a provider under your plan or make a referral to community resources.
